Miss Lewis
Given Honor

Miss Dunbar contest came to a
close Wednesday with the winning
class being the 12th grade and its
contestant, Ruth Evelyn Lewis,
chosen as Miss Dunbar.

The runner ups were as follows:
11th Grade-Barbara Tatum-
2nd place; 8th Grade Juanita
Jones-3rd place; 9th Grade-Pa-
tricia Powell - 4th place; 10th
Grade-Betty Miller-5th place.

The class is sponsored by Ruth
Washington, Harold Strong and
Mary Driver.

Miss Dunbar and her attend-
ants will highlight the homecom-
ing parade Saturday, which will
begin on Paul Street and proceed
down First Street to North Shep-
herd, then from North Shepherd
to Second Avenue to Lufkin Avenue,
and end at Fire Station No. 1.

The festivities will close Satur-
day night, at 7:30 p.m. at Pan-
ther Stadium with the football
game between the Dunbar Tigers
and the Henderson Lions in a dis-
trict game.
