R.A.F. Warrant Officer Eion Field.
FATHER: Mr. Orton Field of Pio Pio, Te Kuiti.

Eion Field was serving as accountant with the Krason Tin Dredging
Mine at Takautoong, West Siam, at the time of the declaration of war
by Japan, and was enlisted in the Royal Air Force Works Branch at
Singapore on the 15th January 1942 in the rank of Warrant Officer.
He was evacuated from Singapore to Batavia and thence on the 28th
February to Poerballingo, Java.

Warrant Officer Field was shot by the Japanese at Djakarta, Java
about the 6th March 1942, after an attempt to escape while a prisoner
of war.
