1857 May 20. Rained nearly all night this
morning fencing around Granary Lot, Riving
Slabs fixing shelter etc ground very
wet. & I went to appraise Colo Smiths at

21st Halling up stack fodder this morning

21st Started Load of Tobacco to Riceville
Replanting Corn ground very wet,-
Tobacco plants very small, flies eating
them up Plowing seconds yrs ground.

22nd began to Hill in fresh ground & sewing
Guano on it, 23rd Hilling & Plowing fresh
ground I gone 2 days friday & saturday to Sunday
Mrs clements land @ $2. pr day $4.00.

24th Went to Sunday School & Mrs Hunts,-

25. Card Load Tobacco to Riceville replanting
Corn & Hilling at fresh ground —
clear good weather about this time

26th. Coltering in fresh ground Hilling & choping
plant Beds. Planting Greens to day & Irish Potatoes

27 Began yesterday to Plow in Corn
Coltering & Plowing finished this morning
Hilling fresh ground, Hilling at fresh groundbegan to weed corn
in Owens clearing to day

Rained yesterday & to day

28 Began to weed Corn this morning
Plowing & Coltering in Corn

29th Clear day cutting of Tobacco Hills at new
ground, & weeding corn, carried Load Tobacco
To Riceville to day - fine day

30 weeding & Plowing corn owens clearing
Cool mornings & nights

31st Rained a little this morning before day fine
growing weather,-

June 1st Planted 5 or 6 Thousand fresh ground Tobacco
Hills this morning
