1875 March 2nd 1875 weather moderate at this time Ed has gone to help Toby roll Logs to day I am trying Radcliffes great Remedy Golden Wonder & seven Seals for internal Piles began to take the medicine last of Feby 1875 & 1st March Jimmie Cutting & Wm in new ground -- 3rd began to Rain last night in the night Rained all night & Raining this morning Hard Ed Striping Tobacco Turned Cooler - last Rain Rain Jany & Feby too both with very very wet & some cold4 March O Lord What a pretty morning [Co] what we had for a Long time no wind ground a little frozen clear & beautiful & moderate cutting in new ground yesterday - 5 Snowed last night Hailed & Rained Striping Tobacco this morning cloudy & like for [rain or] Snow (crossed off rain or) Edmd rake up manure & fixed [Shelter He??] yesterday at shuck House striping Tobacco to day Snow Just covered the ground raining more or less all day trees full of Icicles to day trees full Ice cold day bad on Stock very disagreeable weather Miss Frankey [Leak] 6th cloudy & moderate weather, Hanging up Tobo cutting & getting wood to day [???] all day cloudy & like falling weather all day long 7th March 1875 Rain: Rain: Rain Cold Rain this morning 1st Sunday in this month 3 [freshes] in this month 8th Feby 1875 Monday Rained nearly the whole day yesterday last evening it stoped raining awhile before & quite cold in the night it rained & snowed & this morning about day it cleared off & very pretty morning cutting in new ground Bro [???y] here this day Thank Lord Sun is Shining again 9th Another pretty day sent Jimmie to Yates Mill I Sent 2 1/2 Bus corn for meal [1 1/2] Bus for chop Edmd Sent corn for meal cut Barn Poles this morning making Malls [Gl???] &C to day expect to Send Wm [to] P O this morning. finished cutting in new ground

1875 March 10th Another pretty day Manured plant Bed 1st We Burnt On John's Branch with Stable Manure & Hauled Load Lightwood yesterday Edmd malling Jimmie & Wm cutting old Logs in new ground Turned Dolley dry a week ago Set out Some trees by House & Roses in yard, by Nannie Dews took down Our Bacon to day Some in Box in Smoke House & 3 Box & 1 Chest Bacon up Stairs 11th Edmond Dews & Edmond Tucker Sewing Clover seed this morning in fressh ground above Granary Sewed 2 Gallons Seed bot of Creasey & [Bro] Hauled up 1 Stack fodder above Granary Edmond Tucker Here this morning Sewing clover Seed [ R???ing] Boards for Shelters clear pretty day Manured last plant Bed we burnt John's branch [?] Sewed them all over this evening horse manure 12th Malling & finishing cutting in new ground Nannie Dews here this morning 13 Nannie & me went to S Stone Meeting roads right Bad, Edmond Halled up Largest Stack Oats they are whipping [Oast] Oats this evening very pretty day over head & [whither] moderate 14th I went to Meeting S S. to day got letter from Kate Stating that Jerry was Sick Raining 15th & warm this morning 15 Lowry here this morning getting out Oats I started up & went to See Jerry who is very Sick 16 I come home cleared of cooler Jerry is Sick [indeed] malling wood & Rails & Hauled wood 17th quite cool & windy began to Plow in Oats this morning I am going to Mount Airy to get collar for Tom Papers letters &C Mr Wright put 2 Hoops on meal Bbl 18 March Carried Nannie up to See Jerry who is very Sick with Rheumatic Fever but Some better I came back Same day got home about 9 oclock in night 19 Sewing Oats yesterday & to day weather moderate yesterday pretty day -- 20 Rained last night & this morning till after 12 oclock. Miss Frankey Sick yesterday tolerable this morning Raining at 1 oclock again, striping Tobacco to day Raining hard in evening no wood cut

1875 March 20th Plenty of wood cut Stop raining & [sun] Set clear,- weather moderate 21st Sunday & Cloudy like for rain Weather moderate 1875 Rained incesssantly yesterday & likely for rain Now Did not clear off till about 11 oclock 22 Clouded up again about 7 last night turned cold & in the night began to Snow & this morning Snowing & Continued till about 11 oclock Did not go to Divide Pleasant Lain [D????] land agreeable to my promise have not heard from Jery nor my wife Since I carried her up there last Thursday our folks Striped Tobacco this morning then went to malling & Hauling wood Mr Wright came up here to day & took up Machine Drum to Send to Lynchg to have new Teeth put in it to thrash wheat If any [made] 23 I went to Mrs Lains to See about [doing] [1875] Pleasant Lains Land [Set] Mr Ward Surveying got back home home [1875] 11 Oclock eat Dinner & started up to Mr Wm Moses to meet my wife when I got up there she was not there I went [on] up Jerrys found him bad indeed yet & he prevailed on my wife to stay with him a while longer. When I got up there she had made ready & they all insisted & she agreed to stay a few days longer Nellie did not have a Colt & [Come Linn] 24 & I come back home & Left her there till next Saturday or Sundy Lowry & Robt Palmer Set in to malling in new ground Tues day & thrs day [?] [1/6] pr Hundred Rails they Mall. 25th Ed & Jimmie plowing for corn Lowry & Robt Palmer malling in new ground pretty day Jacob Came here last night going on to See Jerry Malling in 3 days [25] Rails 26 Ed & Jimmie Sewing Oats Lowry & Robt [Palmer] Hauling manure in Garden 1/2 day a ps or a [little] gone after slabs 2 Loads leaves before they [eat dinner]

1876 March 13th 5 1/2 Joles We are rolling Logs to day I find half We find Lard fruit Bacon [1 Gallon] corn meal August 4th 1876 Mr J P Lewis was here this morning to rent some Land 1876 This year is only a tolerable Crop generally forward corn generally Sorry Oats Wheat & some vegetable Crops Sorry & some good Crops, generally Sorry since Lees surrender 1865. 9th Aprl 2 of my are with [Pig] at this time 1876 Oct 26th Kill Bull Tom this morning [my] Hind quarter 80 [lbs] 1 [Do] Sold Ed Dews 1 Hind quarter to Ed Dews 80 [lbs] 1 ['???] Do to Jordan Graves 95 1 Do J Wright 90

1876 Novr 7 Jorden Graves Hauling Logs [?] yesterday 1 to day making [2?3 feet] long to Millers Mill to pay me back what I lent him a year ago. 8 Mar. 1876 Martin Smith carrd. 1 Log to day for me 14 [f] Long to Millers Mill for [?n] Jordens Place 9th Martin Smith 9th Carried an other Log making 4 sent to Millers Mill for me large 2 - about 13 feet long [that] carried by Jorden [G??????] the other by Martin Smith 14 or 14 feet long.

1875 Feby [6 8 &9] My Two young shoats Wyatts & [???] Large White Boar frolicking & I [believe] my 2 old Sows too. Come in June or July 1874 my young Boar Wyatt has not been up for 2 weeks - Aprl 16
