[pardanus?]. Ground moist, especially
in the bottom of the gully near
the stream. Leaf would yield
good Callembala and some beetles;
sweeping the jungle undergrowth
near the creek was also produc-
tive. Entire area - filtered sunlight.
Temperature - 86°-90° F.

Nocturnal collecting: in the
compound of the rest house on the
north side of the river, situated at
the brink of the cliff over-
looking the falls and the
immense canyon below. The
rest house is located in a
relatively undisturbed spot,
backed on the one side by
natural forest (mixed evergreen -
deciduous, tending more to the
former), on the other by the
cliffside flora - grasses,
smaller trees, and shrubs.

The evening temperature was 75°F,
but bright moonlight apparently
was the cause for slow collecting,
as well as the dry season, of
course.

Dry mixed forest, largely
deciduous with some evergreen
species, bordered by cleared grassy
fields. Gently rolling plain
marked by low hills. Collecting
stop located a few miles west of
town.
