My Dear Father

Rec Your letter Dated Sept 29th on the 5th Dec. 2
The Appeal You have Made to My feelings has greatly affected
Me, and the result of My reflections are that the sooner
we unite our Selves the better – I have been talking the
Matter over with the Doctor who strongly advises Me to remain
here both for the advantage of My health and pocket, he
thinks it would be better for you and Emily to come to
this place, than for me to return home. I have explained
the Stact of My sister's health to him, and it is his opinion,
that this country would suit her first rate it's not a consumtion [consumption]
place that is certain. I have hesitated about proposing this measure
for some time for it is a very dangerous Matter, to advise any one
to come to this country. Nor would I wish you to come If you
do not feel sufficient for the undertaking, it take a long time
before people become acclimatised in Mind as well as in
body My greatest fear would be that you would feel the loss of
society I have no doubt about My sister for the ladies
here are decidedly at a premium – I am very senseble [sensible] and
greatful [gratful] for Your kind and beautiful letter My Natural
impulse would be to return without a Moments
delay but it is your wish that I should be guided
Dr M therefor you must not think that I want to
depart from My board – by the way the Dr also told Me
that he is acquainted with several persons here
