I leave San Francisco on Saturday 10th April 1853
by the Steamship Brother Jonathan one of the
Vanderbilt Line, to San Juan del Sur, and from
there to New Orleans, by another Steamer on the other
Side of San Juan, this route is thought to be the Most
healthy, passage $150 Steerage, on My arrival at New Orleans
I Shall not loose a Moment but Start by the first boat for
Nashville. If you write as soon as you receive this your
letter will reach Nashville a bout [about] 3 weeks after Me
If all gos [goes] well I shall have the pleasure of Seeing You
befor [before] the end of this summer.

Not wishing to have More Money than I need to pay
My Way. I enclose you a draft for twenty pounds.
If you can use it to advantage for Me I shall
Not have any objection, as Mr Deeble used to say when
you offered him a pipe.

My health has been tolerably good since my last
communication, and I think it will improve by
the time I reach London. With love to
You and My Dear Sister
