Your kind letter dated Jan
1st I recieved [received] last evening. I was, as I always
am, pleased to recieve [receive] a letter from you,
and to hear that you were all well
and comfortably situated.

and Harriet had a fine time New Years
Eve. I often wish myself at home, so as
to pass "the holidays" as I was wont to do

the whole time as I should be if I were
to return, for now I think I know how
to appreciate a good home and kind friends.

I am glad to hear that Mr Lewis will
probably remain where he is another year as
it must be very convenient for you to
do your shopping there, instead of going
into the middle of the town, as you would
be obliged to do were Mr L. to leave East
Pepperell
. Then again the Post office is very
convenient for you, and so long as it
remains as it is, I think I am more
