San Francisco Nov 13th 1854.

My Dear Mother:

I have just received two
kind letters from you dated the 3rd & 17th of October
one of which contained a few lines from Miss
Lewis. I also recieved [received] another letter from Miss
L. and one from Mrs Tucker also a few lines
from Mr T. all of which I hardly need
say, were very acceptable.

I almost knew I should recieve [receive] two
letters from you by this mail and you see
I was not disappointed. The fact is you have
always written me so regularly, that I cannot
seem to realise [realize] but what I must recieve [receive] a
letter from you by every mail, and for your
kindness in this respect I shall endeavor to
write you as often as a Steamer leaves here
for New York. I am very glad to hear that
you all continue to enjoy good health and
are surrounded with so many comforts
and that everything seems to tend to make
you comfortable and happy, and I sincerely
hope you may never be less pleasantly
situated than you now are, and that
you will experience no more of the trials and
