Dear father

it is a longe time
Since I have heard from you My health
has been very Poor but I have not been Laid
up I intended to have come home this
fall But Morgan Left me last Spring
when I was in Debt and Could not get
out instead of Staying and helping me
out and My Creditors here about to
force Payment and I would have to
Sacrifice Property and I sold my House
that cost me over $500000 Dol [dollars] to a widow
Lady by the Name of Siminson the wife
of the Doctor who took Care of me
when I was sick in fifty one I sold
for the Sum of 22 hundred Dol [dollars]
and have kept the Store Still agoing I
have Married the Lady I sold to and
have built on an addition and am living
in it the Shop has done but little my
health has been so poor that I could not in
it and have been Dependent on hired
help and Sanford has Done all he could
to injure me in business but his wife
has left him and I think he sent her
home
