God has ever loved this world.
He has pitied its misery – & sought
its redemption – the sympathies of his
heart have been poured out in one
Stream of philanthropie [philanthropy].

The followers of C. [Christ], must be like
Him in Spirit – loving what he loved
doing what he did; & in the way he
did – so far as practicable.

I What is the love, the sympathy wh. [which]
God exercises in respect to his creatures.

1 The love of benev. [benevolence] led him to create i.e. [that is] the love
of hap. [happiness]. Made none to be miserable – but if
nec. [necessary] capable of being miserable ~

A being capable of hap. [happiness] must be capab. [capable] of misery ~
