My dear Edward:

I have received your letters of the
2nd and 6th inst, also your postal cards of
the 3rd & 4th. I have had your shoes
mended and I am sending them to you
today by express together with some mosquito
netting as requested.

I am very glad you went back and
found your fly book. I dont know that
I should have been angry with you for
losing it, but I should have been very
sorry. I wish we could all go to Fallen
Leaf next year say from the middle of June
to the middle of July. Norman came home
because the heat was awful and he had a
touch of malaria. Besides he said he was
tired of the work. I dont yet know when
Mother will get back home or when she will
leave Billings. The last letter on the subject
that I got was that she would leave about the
23rd which would get her home about Aug 5/09

In great haste and with lots of love your old Dad
H L A Bates
