My dear old Edward:

I got your letter the other day, telling
about how the Engineer over you told Henry
that you did not show interest in your
work. I can hardly believe his statement
to be true as I know when you worked for
the Royal they gave you great credit. You
say the Engineer said the same thing about
young Phillips, so if it is a habit with him
I would pay no attention to it, but I would
make up my mind more than ever to work
harder if possible, and to be courteous and
polite. After all you have only about
another month and you can stand it.

Your cousin Effie wrote Mother very nicely
about you, and we both were exceedingly
glad to know that you are trying to be as
little trouble as possible to the Cullodens.

So far as the lumber camp is concerned
it is altogether too late to consider it now.
You will be home in another month
taking a few days rest before school begins.
