they will let you [stay – crossed out] pay your board.
Let me hear from you about this.
my dear. I am glad you met the Porters.
I think Mr. P. is a fine young man &
probaby has a good future for he is earnest
& sincere, so I do not think Tommy
fared badly at all – quite the reverse!

We stayed just a week at Applegate &
had a nice time but very hot & I got
poison oak which makes me uncomfortable
always. Your Father had only the weeks
vacation he needs more & will take
more when Dick comes if he can
hold out until then. Please tell Henry
that I hear that Mima Smiths husband
Cecil Smith is dead – & that the papers
say he was the foremost engineer of Canada.
It is a great pity that he died poor fellow he
has a brilliant future I believe – His wife is
a cousin of ours you know.

I hope you are all well, how are you
doing with your work now, better I
hope. I hope the heat is not too great.
How hot does it get? Lesley Greig was
married a [we – crossed out] few days ago. Marjorie
Hailett
was bridesmaid, she married
