That must have been a dangerous thing
the traveling at such a terrible pace
as you describe. I hope you won't
let it happen again if you can
prevent it it is too dangerous.

We are all well – I am glad that
you seem [underlined] better as you do not mention
your boil or carbuncle in the last letter
or so. There were ridiculous episodes
you described as seeing en route to &
from your work – the goat pigs & cub
etc. I wish I could see all those scenes
you describe i.e. the beautiful ones at
Mt. Lowe and all the others –

I am sorry that we can't probably
send anything to you for your birthday dear
but if we dont we wont be forgetting you
anyway and are very glad you are
coming home soon. To think that this will
be your 18th [underlined] birthday! I am sorry to be losing
all my little [underlined] boys so fast! Fond love dear
from us all & many happy returns of the
13th. Every your loving Mother
