My dear old Edward:

Just a few lines to acknowledge receipt
of your letter of the 19th and postal of the 20th.

I had already sent you a one dollar bill
as I expected you could not cash a cheque.

I shall be glad to hear that it reached you
safely. If I am alive I will be at the
16th St. Station Sunday morning to meet you.

I hope you will have a fine trip to the
top of Mount Tallac. You certainly have
had a very fine vacation my dear boy.

I dont expect to write you any more
as you wont get any more letters before
you leave. I got a letter from Mother
yesterday that she, Fred and Jocelyn were
going to leave on or before [on or before underlined] the 21st (which is
today) for the Yellowstone Park, and that
she expects to get home by Sunday Aug 1st.
You bet I will be glad to see them both.

Goodbye and have a pleasant trip home

Your loving Father
H L A Bates
