Dear old Charles,

First I want to thank you
for your kindness in remembering me
with a Christmas card; I appreciate it
very much, and my Christmas stock took
a decided jump above par when I received
a remembrance from a friend of those good
old days which we can not forget. I, alas,
received a card from Colonel(?) Lyell A.
Chapman (Chappy)
, as you may know he
has undertaken that burden of [keeping - crossed out] taking
a wife. Also a card from C. Orear.

Northing of particular importance has
happened to me since I last wrote you.
I am again back in college grinding
away at Economics, and hope to hell
to graduate next year (however it is impossible)
and get out and make my fortune.

I have lost touch with Capt.
Gansser
and crabby old Martin but
suppose Gansser is puffing away on
a Cinco cigar in his Grand Rapids
law office, and Major Martin crabbing
and damning everything from the Stars
and Stripes to the ground under his feet.
