Dear Edward,

It has been so long
since I heard from you,
I thought I'd better drop you
a line to find out why, &
what this distant attitude
means. I can't understand
it at all. And here is Les
all up in the air, & studying
how to fly higher at my
dear old Berkeley, leaving his
poor old uncle helplessly
on foot, & at sea, as it were.

I may have to come down
there yet & straighten things
out, or know the reason why.
