My dear Edward:

In one of your letters recently you said
you had only $1.75, that you had not been
paid for last month, and that you had
borrowed $10.00 from Lesley. I am not
sending you any money, as I have told you
to ask me when you needed it, and you
have not done so. You may not have
intended it as a hint, I don't think you did,
but I feel that you ought to write to me
openly for either a gift or a loan. I dont
think that I have yet received any thanks
for paying for your uniform at Adams & West.

I am not complaining, as I am used in my
family to not receiving thanks, but all of you,
for your own sakes, should show appreciation of
things done for you. Lesley says his watch
is on the bum. I have sent him a box today to
ship it back to me in, and I have seen Shreve
who will overhaul it. How is yours now?

Last Sunday was opening "to"[crossed out] day at the boat house.
It was miserably cold and windy, and I dont
like to see the crowds of young fellows who ought
not to be in civilian clothes. Tommy Allen was
there in his Flying Cadet Uniform and looked well
in it. Howard Deas telephoned in last night to
get the latest dope about you. Bull Lion goes
