at Marcheville on Sept 26th. We hope you will be recognized
for your part in that affair for you certainly deserve it
more than the above men. I enclose you operators
license application to run the car when you come home
Sign your name on the top line on the back and
return to me and I will file it. I believe Jack
will be home tonight from Montana, and we are to
go to their house for Xmas Dinner. I told John the
Klink-Klink story not long ago, but it should have
been told him in bed. I shall always remember
the three eager little faces at home when I used
to tell them Klink-Klink, and how if I made a
mistake in one word, I was promptley corrected.
I only wish those 3 faces & 2 in the other room
were there now, so that I could "hug them to death"
as my very own dear "wascals". God bless each and
every one of them. Edith W. is better. They have
been giving her coffee, whisky, & claret, and she
commenced to mend right off. Mrs. W says that now
she is going to stump the State against prohibition!

We are all well at home and shall think of
you & Nor & Dick at Xmas. There ought to be
letters from you soon as it certainly cannot take
seven weeks for a letter to come from you. Neither
of the two $100 remittances which you sent me
through the Y. M. C. A. have been received, and I
have again written the Treas in N.Y. They are too
slow, and it does not speak well for their
efficiency. Lots of love to you from us all.

We suppose you are at Coblenz.

Always your loving father
HLA Bates
