From Uncle Will Milton Ontario. Dec 22 1918

My dear Susanna —

We were all elated the other day to
get that Boston paper not only because
it relieved our minds about Edward
but to find that he had so greatly
distinguished himself & that without
being wounded. Surely he will
be decorated since the facts are
known. Of course many a soldier
richly deserves decoration & because
nobody — I mean impersive officer
sees what he does nothing comes of it.
His C.O. can hardly have failed to
report him!
