My dear old Sned:

I have not written you for a month, and
that last letter was written at home while I
was laid up there with the "flu." Thank God we are
all well at home and Jos has gone back to U. C.
to finish his agricultureal course. Lesley is teaching
in the University High in Oakland. I was very
sorry to hear of your being in hospital with jaundice
but from your later letters, you were doing well,
and were hoping to get sick leave to Nice. You
must have gotten that leave, because Sat night
we received a lot of postals from you from
Marseilles, and in one you said you had
missed the train for Nice, so would have to
stay over two hours longer at Marseilles.

We are all delighted at your having received
your citation and shall be glad to see it. I hope
the medals will follow because you deserve
them. We had a very anxious time over Jos
but thank God, he pulled through and seems no
worse. It was a very expensive illness for me
as he was ill in the Alexandria hotel and could
not be moved. He was there 3 weeks, Mother
was with him 2 weeks and I was there 5 days.
I have not got the doctors bill yet, but the
total expenses will be at least $550.00, so you
