Belleau Wood — Bill George is
in the hospital in New York
he having been gassed & wounded
but is supposed to be recovering I
think.

It was delightful [underlined] to know that not
only were you decorated "with Palms"
but that you are having that lovely
furlough to the South of France! We
are so thankfull to know you had
your clothes trunk etc — I suppose [underlined]
you can't keep them if you have
to go back to duty again — We are
hoping you [underlined] may [underlined] have succeeded
in getting leave to come home
