Dear Edward: —

Being a constant reader,
and while glancing at the local
"Haycutter" last evening, I came
across attached article in the
Police news. Naturally I was not
surprised to see your name in this column.
I was however greatly pleased and shocked
to read of your being brave and noble.

All joking aside, Ed, I'm proud to know
you and want to congratulate you. I would
have given a lot to see the presentation. I'll
bet some big fat French officer kissed you on
both cheeks. I expect he got a thrill from it.

Alameda and Bay Farm Island are
just the same. The wild clams are still
dashing around the outlets of their favorite
sewers. The Police department is just the same,
with the exception of a new hat he is wearing.

Be a good boy, Edward the brave, and
come home soon.

Kindest regards to General Pershing and
your French lady friends.

Yours as ever

Sydney S. Clark
