We are sure because your letter of the 13th January
from Chaumont A S F headquarters corroborates
it so we don't feel in any uncertainty before
that [underlined] pirbel I am glad to say. I wish we
could have cabled but father thought it useless
especialy as he believed the cable had been on
the way as long as the letter because you spoke
in the letter of probably cabling that same date
as no dates are allowed on [double underlined] the cables it
seemed very probable & in that case you
were probably back in Coblenz or on [?]
then it may be on the way to some other place
so your father thought it no use to try.

We are all very well & hope that you
are dearest — Mrs Wallace Frances
Rameys aunt rang up this am to
Congratulate us upon your having [written above the line] distinguished
yourself. & we met Mr Wallace on Saturday
Who said playfuly that he hardly expected Ed
we would speak [underlined] to any ordinary mortal now.
