It is pouring [underlined] rain in sheets today & did most of
the night also — Last Friday a huge [double underlined] can of
coffee arrived from Rio de Janiero sent by Dick
long ago — It weighs 25 lbs we think!!!
It was nice of him. I hope dearest that you
will beck here long before it is all gone —
We are very eager to know what chance of coming
home? Keep hoping you may be allowed to
from the base hospital in "the Riviera".

I am rather stupid & sleepy the storm kept me
awake part of the night —

We had a Roosevelt Memorial Service yesterday
a.m. at church. It was fine. ]]Mr Shires]] the
new Rector is splendid [underlined] young, lively clever &
well educated & very attractive as well I
mean a very pleasing personality.

It was very interesting you meeting so many
friends in & near Paris — We were most [underlined] interested
in Al Serumds brother — Everyone seems agreed that
Wil Serumds was splendid.

Fond love my dearest — Worlds of love from us all

Your proud & loving

Mother
R. Helen Bates
