the New England Division at once was
in the Belleau Wood fight where his
Co-w Regt relieved the Marines
The Mother was here one day last week &
waited around the garden all [underlined] day [underlined]
waiting to see me; I was out, &
she gave up at last & a friend of her
telephoned to ask me if I would see her
so I told her to come today - I feel
so sorry for her - so if you know
anything or know Captain Burney
(to whom the mother wrote but has received
no answer. he may have been killed.)
but if you know any way of her
getting information dear it could be
