Dearest Edward

It seemed dull without you yesterday
though I was not surprised at your
decision not to come as I know
it is near exam time – We did
not get your message however until
about 5:30 Saturday afternoon [inserted] or later because Doris
was in S.F. I understand & did
not get your letter until late P.M.
of Saturday when she returned –

Hence I did not get the message
quite as early as I would have
liked – so try to notify us directly
next time "if you can" [underlined]

If you are studying however
for xams [exams] I know how every
interruption counts so I
won't find fault this time.

[written vertically on left side:] Norman [underlined] thinks you would be better off without [double underlined] taking alcresta ipecac tablets.
