in by the fire and read. Pretty soon
we heard mice gnawing in the
wood but we were very brave
little girls and sat perfectly still.
Some girls would have jumped
up on chairs and screamed.

Then our visitor Mr. Skunk came

fire kept getting lower and as
the wood was almost gone, [getting down all

We stayed up and waited for
Mabel to come home which was
after midnight. When we finally
got into bed it was 1: AM.

train back to Los Gatos and they
didn't get to our house until
five thirty.
