Had he waited for a year or two before marrying
he would probably not be in the position that
he now is. Of course it is temporary, as he
is a hard worker "and ought to be recognized"[underlined] before
long. I have had my say on marriage before
a man has made his permanent start in life,
the rest is up to you. Whatever you do, you
are my very dear old Sned and God bless you
always. Are you coming home, if so
when. I believe I asked this before.

Mother and I are both pretty well. I shall
be glad when I get away from the office for
a vacation. However I cannot go yet, as
the clerks are going on theirs, but after July 15th
I may be able to go any time.

When you see Nor & Helen and little Patsy give
them each my love. Heaps for yourself
from your loving father
HLA Bates

Jack has been asked by some influential men
to start an automobile and plate glass Insurance
Company. He is looking into it I believe.
I think he made a great mistake in not going
to the Home office of the St Paul and telling them
his story. All his friends want him to go.
