Dec. 29 -1923.
Hon. and Dr. and Lieut. Charles E. H. Bates
New York City.

My dear old pal: -

You certainly missed one of the prettiest
cards I have. I did not know your address:
hence after writing it I had to destroy it. Well
Bates I congratulate you for the bravery you have
shown in taking the fatal plunge. Send me the
unfortunate ones picture. I would like to see
the one who is so brave! I am watching
your progress with great interest. I know you
have had a great and heavy up-hill pull. You
have worked. It is good for you no doubt.
By the way call up Jockey Cohen and tell that
Son of Abraham to write me.

I am in Tuscaloosa the seat of the State U.
I am the head preacher in this place among the
Methodists at least and I hand it out in kettels
aloepechie. Doc I love you and would give
5.00 to talk to you 20 minutes. That is more
than Pader White could get.

Write me and enclose the picture
C. Orear

Keep me informed where you move

{WRITTEN DOWN THE SIDE}
Was out to Los Angeles this last summer. Thought of you.
