It was one hell of a day.
Windy and the rain came down
in torents [torrents]. We had a sixteen
car convoi at 1 P.M. from
Bazoches to a village just
below the Chemes des Dames,
about three miles in back of
Selles. It was pitch dark
by 5:30 and before we
got through Braine, at
Chassemy Tedford got stuck
in a hole and had to be
pulled out. It was so dark
that I had to go in second
