Chassemy on. The only
time that I could see the
road and the car ahead
was when the big guns would
flash, and that was frequent
enough to follow the road
and keep from coliding [colliding]
with the car in front of
me. The flashes from the
guns lit up just like flashes
from lightning. There was
an insesent [incessant] roar. To make
things worse for me my
foot brake wasn't working at
all. Had my car "on pan"
in the morning and got a
new front spring put in
and my steering gear fixed,
but didn't have time to
fix the brakes. The only
brake I had was the hand
