on top of the hill where I could
see the German lines. There
was one puff of smoke right
after another all along the
lines from the bursting
shells from our guns.
I am certainly glad that it
is us that is making the
offensive and not the
Germans. I don't see how
any living thing can escape
under such a fire.

a shed, but a soldier was
making a vase and stayed
