than anything else we did.
It was hard to figger out what
possition the plane was in by looking
at the horizon. Sometimes the earth
seemed to be standing on edge, and
what position I was in I don't know.
The earth had a velvetey appearance.
The forests looked so soft and
nice. They looked as if you jump off
into them and bounce up and down.
Lt. Lambert, an old Sec. 8 man
of the Ambulance Service took
me up in a Sampson. I am
very glad that I had a chance to
go up in a Sampson rather than
a A.R. that most of the boys went
up in. They are a large plane and
you can't do tricks in them.

We walked home from the field
a distance of five miles in
fifty minutes. Had no supper
but got some chocolate and
cakes at the Y.M. when we got
back.
