Dear Ma:

Received your letter last
night written Sept 21 and it
is a week or two late. But letters
from home are always welcome
early or late. The box from
Toots came with the mail and
I am making a hog of myself
eating the candy and cakes.
There are several questions -- you
asked me so I will answer
those first. I havn’t learned
to smoke yet and I guess I never
will. There are more girls in
this part of the country than
any place we have been --
But they are not like the
girls at home. They can say
all they want about the
beautiful women of France
the American girls have them
