Mare Island & it seems mighty
tough to be broke so long. Its
a good way to save it though I
guess. Haven't got any letters
from you yet. Some times
a shell hits the mail
and we lose our mail got a
letter from Wilfred, Aunt
Nell and Toad Ballagh and one
from Ida that was sent to
Quantico. Here's hoping that
I hear from you folks before
long. I don't fancy these french
towns that I have been in
so far. They are dirty and mostly
old ram shacked buildings. There
is some fine land over in
this country & they sure can
raise grains etc, but they
haven't no system to farming
like we have. Their stock
show up well too. Wouldn't
mind having two eight horse
teams of some of these
