Dear mother:

Just got off from
guard and have nothing to do
for the rest of the day so will
spend my time writing letters. It
is quite chilly here now. Has been
snowing on and off the last
few days and every thing is
sure white and pretty. Wrote to
Ruby and Ida a few days

some letters from me by now
that I have written since arriving
