Dear Ma,
Have not written sooner as I have
been waiting to see what they would do
with the affidavits. Well we found out
last night they said that the barracks
we were in could only turn in fifteen
a day. The first man that turned his
in to get a number was number sixteen.
That means the first fifteen were all
friends of the bos'n mate of our company
comander. I was number thirty two so
that means I would come in on the third
day. But in the morning it all changed
around. Fellows got up about three p.m.
and got in line. We could not do this
because we were posted to go in line certain
days. At seven o'clock they gave these fellows
numbers from one to one hundred.
