Dear Ma,

Have been waiting a few
days before I wrote to see if my
name would appear on the list
for a discharge but know such
luck. They posted a list Sunday
and there was some bunch on it.
Some say there will be another
list but I don't think so.

All the fellows who did
not get discharged and the ones
who had no affidavites,
are so discusted with the place
when they asked them if they wanted
to change their rating to fireman,
they done it. They will get shipped
to New York some have been shipped
all ready. I will not change because
when they get you back there it
is no telling how long they will
keep you. Yesterday they got me
on a swell job. (seaman guard).
