Dear Sister:

Yours, of the 6 inst. came to hand
a couple day ago, wh-
en I was writing to E.
J. Benkin, and su-
ch being the case, I did
not answer immed-
iately.

We are now encam-
ped about a mile from
Battle creek, a small
stream which emties
into the Tennessee, wh-
ich is about half a mile
from this place. On the
opposite side of the river
the rebels are plainly visi-
ble, and they often hollow
across the river to our men
