Tues June 26 Rather warm for working but it didnt threaten rain any to speak of. Johny finished irrigating the potato bugs with London purple in the forenoon and this afternoon he hoed peas etc. I commenced to cut hay on the windy hill place and think I done pretty well.

Wed June 27 A cold raw wind all day and lots of it. I Chored around a while this morning. I tried to get the water stopped from coming into the lake and I guess that I have. I hoed strawberries and watered the pears and this afternoon I mowed. John raked and bunched hay all day.

Thurs June 28 A very nice day to make hay and we improved it too. John shocked in the forenoon and raked and bunched this afternoon. I mowed all day.

Fri June 29 Very nice day. Meeda got started for Grand Rapids on the 2 O clock train. Mrs Buffom goes with her as far as Kerney [Kearney] Nebrasky [Nebraska]. I finished the first cutting to day [today] about 3:30 PM. John raked awhile this morning then took Meda to town.

Sat June 30 Fine to day [today] only pretty warm. John finished raking up the hay to day [today] and bunched it and got through about common quitting time. I went this morning to see if I could find any help for hauling hay next week got track of some but dont know for certain whether they will come or not. This afternoon I irrigated some below the orchard.

Sun July 1st A beautiful day not quite as cold as yesterday. Mother and I went up to John Dragers had a nice visit and got home and found Will and Lizzy Golden here and they had got the chores started some so they soon got them done. Lews folks were here a little while to night [tonight].

Mon July 2 Pretty hot some of the time to day [today] and cloudy and threatened rain some. I went to town this forenoon to get some eatables and things and this afternoon I irrigated and hoed. The boys Johny and a couple of men that I hired hauled hay on the windy hill place got 7 loads in the stack and brought one and put it in the barn loft.

Tues July 3 Rather too much threatening for a good hay day and it did rain a little just after noon but the boys got 7 loads of hay in the stack but Mr Gray did not work this afternoon on acct [account] of being under the weather. I irrigated this forenoon below the orchard Next page
