Sat May 4 Mostly cloudy but did not rain. Will went to town and got a couple of sacks of corn ground and done sundry other errands and hauled manure after he got home. I hoed strawberry plants and irrigated on the piece north of the house.

Sun May 5 Clear and fine. We kept Sunday all right [alright].

Mon May 6 Mostly clear and quite nice. Will worked on the Long pond ditch to day [today]. I put in the day at the strawberry bed but I am still irrigating the alfalfa north of the house.

Tues May 7 Fine. Will hauled manure all day. I finished the strawberry vines and dug up the alfalfa along the ditches in the forenoon and this afternoon I helped haul manure.

Wed May 8 A real hot warm sultry day and if it was only wet enough things would grow hand over hand. We hauled 3 loads of manure to day [today] and I irrigated the strawberry bed too.

Thurs May 9 Pretty nice day but the wind has blowed most too much wind for our use. Will plowed the piece towards the barn. I irrigated on the alfalfa piece north of the barn and the patch of peas beans corn etc. and I made a couple of milking stools.

Fri May 10 Rather disagreeable. Will harrowed and clod crushed and I irrigated in the forenoon and in the afternoon we went to town. Done some errands and brought out Katie Dotts.

Sat May 11 Clear but quite a cold wind. Will laid off the piece towards the barn in the morning and we planted it and got through a while [awhile] before night and then helped Mother at her flower arrangements.

Sun May 12 Clear and quite a frost this morning but I dont see any damage that has been done by it. Will went up home to day [today] got back in good time for the chores. Mother and Kate and I have kept Sunday and Kate went over to town to night [tonight]. Lew and Mary came over to night [tonight] and are here now.

Mon May 13 A little frosty this morning but clear and quite warm. We commenced to haul manure this morning but stalled with the second load and had to unload it so we quit and Will went to plowing. Got it about half plowed. I hoed strawberry plants.

Tues May 14 Clear and rather warm. Will worked at the patch below the orchard finished plowing it and harrowed and clod crushe [crushed] part of it. Mr Cyrus Buffoms folks were here and made us a visit and at noon there was a man here who wants us to board his wife and two daughters awhile. He agreed to pay us 30 dollars [$30.00] a month for their board. I worked some at the strawberry patch and visited lots with Silas Buffoms folks.

Wed May 15 Mostly clear but pretty cool most of the time and to night [tonight] it feels very frosty. Will worked at the corn ground has got it ready to plant and has now gone to town. I chored around some but put in most of my time at hoeing and cultivating in the garden. Mrs Dixon and Lill were here this afternoon and visited awhile.

Thurs May 16 Found it raining but pretty slow and it rained and snowed until about 10 O clock then it cleared up. We done some odd jobs and this afternoon we worked at the gate to turn the water on to the piece of alfalfa over in the N W corner but we did not get it done. The rain wet down about 3 inches I guess.

Fri May 17 A big frost this morning but a nice day. We planted a little corn and the potatoes below the orchard to day [today] and got done just tim [time] for the chores.

Sat May 18 Just about Such another day as we have been having pretty hot when the wind was not blowing and quite cold towards cold towards night. We finished planting the corn this forenoon and this afternoon we went up to Mr Dixons fixed the cupboard and staid [stayed] until night. Will went to town this afternoon and got the mail.

Sun May 19 Pretty nice day but it acts some like rain now. We didnt do much but keep Sunday.

Old Nell had a colt last night.

Mon May 20 Cloudy and cool most of the day and is raining a little to night [tonight]. We fixed the headgate to turn the water into the afalfa piece in the corner and this afternoon we went to town and done some business and got home in time for the chores.

Tues May 21 Cloudy all day and pretty thick too. The wind comes from the East and it is very cold. Will hauled manure and piled it up to rot. I irrigated in the orchard and filled the cistern. There was 4 feet of water in it to begin with.

Wed May 22 Clear and a pretty fair day. We hoed out the strawberries and planted some late peas and cleaned out a lot of garden truck.

Thurs May 23 Threatening and did sprinkle a little about noon. We hauled manure and piled it up to rot.

Fri May 24 All kinds of weather. We hauled a couple of loads of manure then fixed the fence and brought the calves up and put them into the little plum patch. Then we plowed the piece west of the ice house and harrowed it.

Sat May 25 Clear and nice only Cool. We hauled manure to day [today].

Sun May 26 Clear and nice. We went up to John Dragers found them all well and hearty and had a real nice visit.

Mon May 27 Clear hot and windy. We sprayed some and Irrigated some on the Alfalfa over in the N W corner and part of the Strawberries. Mr S W Buffoms folks were here and Mr Buffom churned and helped us at the irrigating some in the forenoon.

Tues May 28 Clear in the morning but clouded up and looks like rain. We finished spraying the orchard and done lots of irrigating over on the N W corner piece and stuff about the house.

Wed May 29 A drizzling rain all day and things are getting moistened up considerable. We let a lot of horses have room in the barn belonging to men who are working on the ditch. Will cleaned up some little bee frames and went to town this afternoon. I made a Scientific gate for the lake and irrigated on the alfalfa piece in the N W corner.

Thurs May 30 It rained steady nearly all of the time to day [today] and some of the time pretty hard. We done the chores and that was about all that we did do and Will done most of them. I did write a letter to Dave and Rhoda and I shut off the water from the alfalfa piece in the N W corner.

Fri May 31 Clear and nice and dried lots. We went up to the windy hill place and brought down 2 loads of posts and poles and rubbish for wood and there is enough up there yet to make another load. Mr Smith and Co were here to day [today] Kalsomining and papering.
