Fri Apr 1st Another awful windy day but it cleared off and is quite cold to night. Lew and Kib worked at repairing the stack corn this forenoon and Lew and I went to town this afternoon and fixed up some papers to send to Mr Lariner and done some other jobs of various kinds.

Sat April 2 A little better to day but not perfect Colorado weather yet. The boys worked at hauling hay and hauled a load of stems up to windy hill and fetched back a jag of bedding. I worked at the window screens and the doors too. I will have to paint them some yet.

Sun April 3 Mean as ever and rained a spell for chore time at night. We weighed a lot of sheep some 15 I think and they averaged 74 3/13 lbs. I think that is some what encouraged. We had some company to day. Mr Smiths folks and Mr Spensers folks and had a very pleasant visit too.

Mon Apr 4th A howling wind all day and keeps it up yet and it is pretty cold too. Lew and Kibb cleaned some seed wheat this forenoon and hauled manure this afternoon. I fixed the organ and the beams and made a pair of rockers for the little rocking chair.

Tues Apr 5 Pretty good day. Lew and Kibb hauled 2 loads of hay to the sheep and 2 to put into the loft. I painted chares [chairs] in the forenoon and tinkered apple trees this afternoon.

Wed April 6 Quite nice to day. The boys hauled hay this forenoon and this afternoon Lew and I went to town to do some settling up. Paid Porter brs [brothers] and and Anderson and Ames and Campbell and Mr Horner and the man who works in his shop at wood work.

Thurs Apr 7 Pretty fair average day but the wind kept up a continual howl most of the day and it is a howling yet. Lew and Kibbie hauled some hay but the wind kept them from doing a good job at it. I finished painting the window blinds and screen doors and chairs the first batch and then went to grafting. Grafted what I wanted to north of the house and I started at the plum trees in the west hen yard.

Fri Apr 8 Found about half an inch of snow on the ground this morning but the weather cleared up and this afternoon has been quite comfortable. The boys hauled a load of hay from the Howard place this forenoon for the cows and that is all that we had there. This afternoon the boys fixed a break in the ditch near Howards fence then they hauled manure. I fixed the headgate north of Howards place and then painted chairs.

Sat Apr 9 Quite nice until about 4 O clock when the wind started up and blew like fury. Mr Smith and another man painted the house over to day. The boys hauled a load of hay for the sheep and then hauled manure. I trimed [trimmed] the plum trees west of the hen yard varnished the cupboards and painted the cellar door.

Sun Apr 10 Mostly clear but pretty windy. We kept Sunday each one as it suited best. Mother and Dave and Meda are expected home on the 8 O clock train. Monta Lamaine came here this evening. He is lame from having cut his foot with an axe. He wants to stay awhile and work for his board.

Mon Apr 11 The wind did not blow to day but it was not very warm. The boys hauled 14 loads of manure to day the three of them. Mr Batty was here to day looking at the sheep. He praised their looks quite considerable. I set grafts in the little plum patch west of the grainery. Grafted four rows and it made me very tired of hunkering down then I painted the cellar doors etc.
