Mon Oct 3 A little cooler but no signs of rain to lay the dust. Lew finished the hay cutting to day. Kib and I pruned off the blighted parts of the apple and pear trees.

Tues Oct 4 About like it has been for the last long time. Walter Hawley came after the plums and crabs and we all helped to pick them they amounted to 25 [$0.25] and 15 cents [$0.15] and there is $3.15 yet unpaid.

Wed Oct 5 Just like yesterday. Lew went to town with Mrs Bartlett and got home just before night brought out 1,900 lbs coal paid $4.30 cts for it. Kib raked up and bunched the piece of hay north of the house. I hoed and irrigated the strawberry bed.

Thurs Oct 6 Like we have been using only a little cloudy. Lew and Kib hauled 5 loads of hay which cleared the piece over on the hill. I have been pruning some and irrigating some over on the hill piece.

Fri Oct 7 Slightly cooler. Lew and Kib hauled 4 loads of hay from the piece north of the house. I irrigated and pruned apple and pear trees.

Sat Oct 8 Pretty good to day. Lew and Kib finished the haying by hauling 3 loads from the piece north of the house and this afternoon Lew done sundry chores and Kib went to town with the cream. The buggy wheel went into a deep rut and spilt a lot of the cream. I filled the cistern and done lots of irrigating on the piece north of the house and the piece over on the hill.

Sun Oct 9 Fine as a fool and awful dusty. Lew went up to Spring Canion [Canyon] Ranch has no got home yet. Kib went to town to take his music lesson but his teacher was gone. Mr Smiths folks were out. Mr Smith and I went up to see a patent part sheet iron flume across Dry Creek and as we came home went to see Mr Alfords orchard was surprised at the amount of fruit on the trees there.

Mon Oct 10 Fine and warm. Lew investigated the sheep question to day and concluded that we had better not feed this winter for hay is too high. Kib and I hauled manure onto the little meadow north of the barn. Two gents from up Rists Canion [Canyon] who are hunting cattle have stopped here to stay all night.

Went with Mr Smith to see flume.

Tues Oct 11 Cloudy and cold all day and this afternoon the wind blew hard and cold too. The other boys hauled manure. I worked at the lake dyke doctoring the muskrats holes and I fixed up the place where the old head gate was after taking most of the old head gate out.

Wed Oct 12 Rained a little last night but the wind blew like all possesed and it keeps it up yet and has rained a little a few times to day. The boys chored around some. I didnt do anything this forenoon but this afternoon I cleaned out the grainery.

Thurs Oct 13 Pretty nice day. The boys hauled a little manure this forenoon and this afternoon Mother and I went to town to visit Charleys folks.

Fri Oct 14 The boys hauled hay some. Lew got the heifer home from Jim Johnsons and Kip helped wash. Ma and I still over in town.

Sat Oct 15 Very nice but some frosty in the morning so it was yesterday morning. The boys still tinkering around. Mother and I came home to night. I interviewed the colledge [college] and things some this afternoon.

Sun Oct 16 Pretty fair average day some wind and a little cool this afternoon. Mr and Mrs Wyley came over this morning. Mrs Wyley stayed here and Ed went with the boys hunting rabbits. Got 21. I have had a miserable day. The hay fever has held me down pretty tight all day and is bad yet.
