Description

The 36th Regiment, Mississippi Infantry (Confederate) was organized on March 12, 1862 in Meridian, Mississippi under the command of Col. Drury J. Brown and served in the Western Theater under Chalmers', Anderson's, Martin's, Hebert's, and Sear's brigades in the Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana. It was later commanded by Col. William W. Witherspoon and Lt. Col. Edward Brown.
