Commonly known as the Pettus Guards, Company K of the 13th Regiment, Mississippi Infantry (Confederate) was organized as Company H on March 30, 1861 in Lauderdale County, Mississippi under the command of Capt. S. J. Randell and served in the Eastern Theater. It was reorganized as Company K on April 26, 1862 under the command of Capt. L. L. Barker. It was later commanded by Capt. William F. Brown.
