Description
Established in 1777, the Quartermaster Department is the U.S. Army’s oldest logistics branch. During the nineteenth century, it was primarily responsible for the acquisition, development, and dispersal of food and uniforms within the army. At various times it also oversaw military transportation services, construction projects, military heraldry, and mortuary services. (Wikipedia)
