Adams’ and Gibson’s Brigade (also known as the Louisiana Brigade) (Confederate) was organized from April to August 1862 under the command of Brig Genl. Daniel Weisiger Adams. It served in the Western Theater in the Army of Mississippi, and later, the Army of Tennessee. At the time of formation, its core units consisted of the 13th, 16th, 20th, 25th Regiments, Louisiana Infantry, Austin’s 14th Battalion Infantry, and the 5th Company, Washington Artillery (Louisiana). Col. Randall Gibson assumed command in September 1863 after Adams was wounded and captured at the Battle of Chickamauga, becoming the permanent commander with his promotion to Brig Genl.
