Description

The 14th Battalion, Louisiana Sharpshooters (also known as Austin’s Sharpshooters) was organized on August 12, 1862 under the command of Maj. John E. Austin and served in the Western Theater. It was comprised of three companies of men from the 11th Regiment, Louisiana Infantry, and was assigned to Adams’ and Gibson’s Brigade in the Army of Tennessee. It surrendered and mustered out of service on May 4, 1865. (National Park Service-Battle Units; Confederate Military Service Record)
